Nahian Sourov is a Lecturer and Researcher in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), specializing in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Intelligent Systems, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning (DL), and Computer Vision. His research focuses on understanding the interaction between humans and intelligent computational systems, with particular emphasis on designing AI-driven technologies that are transparent, ethical, and centered around human needs.

His interdisciplinary research investigates how algorithmic curation, recommender systems, social media algorithms, and automated decision-making systems influence human cognition, attention, behavior, and decision-making processes. By integrating advanced computational models with principles from Human-Computer Interaction, he explores ways to create intelligent systems that enhance user experience while promoting fairness, trust, explain ability, and responsible AI practices.

Nahian's research interests span a wide range of topics, including machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, explainable artificial intelligence (XAI), intelligent user interfaces, multimodal interaction, cognitive computing, and data-driven decision support systems. He is particularly interested in leveraging AI technologies to solve real-world challenges across domains such as healthcare, education, digital platforms, and smart environments. His work aims to develop intelligent applications that are not only technically robust but also accessible, user-friendly, and socially responsible.

As an educator, Nahian is passionate about inspiring the next generation of computer scientists and engineers. He teaches undergraduate courses in computer science, mentoring students in software development, artificial intelligence, computer vision, image processing, robotics, compiler design, and computer organization. He actively supervises student projects and encourages research-driven learning by integrating modern AI techniques with practical problem-solving approaches.

Beyond teaching and research, Nahian actively contributes to academic and professional communities through collaborative research projects, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary initiatives. His long-term vision is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge computational intelligence and human-centered design by developing AI systems that empower individuals, support informed decision-making, and create meaningful digital experiences. Through continuous research and innovation, he strives to advance the fields of Human-Computer Interaction and Intelligent Systems while contributing to the responsible development of next-generation artificial intelligence technologies.

Project Title: Banquet Reservation System

Supervisor: Nahian Sourov

The Banquet Reservation System is a web-based application designed to streamline and automate banquet hall reservation and event management processes. The system provides a centralized platform for managing multiple branches, banquet halls, customer information, bookings, event schedules, menu packages, pricing, and reporting. It incorporates real-time availability checking to prevent booking conflicts, automated pricing calculations, and dashboard analytics to support efficient decision-making. By replacing manual reservation methods with a digital solution, the project enhances operational efficiency, improves customer service, reduces scheduling errors, and enables more organized and effective banquet management.
