Jharna Akhter is a Lecturer in the Department of Fashion Design and Apparel Engineering, with an academic background in Fashion Design & Technology and practical experience in the fashion and apparel industry. She is passionate about fashion design, creative development, textile and apparel innovation, and sustainable fashion practices.
With hands-on industry experience in design development, print and embroidery design, range planning, mood-board development, and buyer-oriented product creation, she brings both academic knowledge and practical industry perspectives into the classroom. Her teaching approach focuses on encouraging creativity, critical thinking, technical skills, and students’ individual design identities.
She is particularly interested in fashion design, fashion history, textile development, sustainable design, apparel production, and emerging trends in the global fashion industry. Her goal as an educator is to create an engaging learning environment where students can explore ideas, develop confidence, and transform creative concepts into meaningful fashion outcomes.
